Tragic Loss: Husband Accuses Lagos Hospital of Medical Negligence in Pregnant Wife’s Death

In a heart-wrenching tale of alleged medical negligence, a Lagos-based hospital, R-Jolad Hospital, is under scrutiny after a pregnant woman, Loveth Ovwiomodiowho, and her newborn son tragically lost their lives.

The grieving husband, Prince Ovwiomodiowho, a registered nurse anesthetist, has come forward with a detailed account of the events leading up to the devastating outcome.

According to Prince, his wife was under the care of Dr. Marcus Mbakwe, the consultant obstetrician, throughout her pregnancy.

However, when she went into labor on March 7, 2024, the hospital’s negligence and substandard care led to a series of catastrophic events.

Prince alleges that Dr. Mbakwe was not present at the hospital during his wife’s labor and communicated with the hospital staff via social media.

The junior doctor and midwife assigned to Loveth failed to properly manage her labor, leading to complications that resulted in the baby’s death and Loveth’s severe blood loss.

The husband’s emotional testimony, shared with LIB, paints a picture of chaos and incompetence at the hospital.

He claims that Dr. Mbakwe gave instructions for induction without examining his wife, leading to prolonged birth asphyxia and the baby’s death.

When Loveth’s condition deteriorated, the hospital delayed performing a cesarean section, resulting in severe blood loss and her eventual passing on March 8, 2024.

Disturbing videos and photos shared with LIB show litres of Loveth’s blood on the floor of the theatre as doctors tried to save her.

Prince’s petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetoku, has raised concerns about the missing uterus and placenta of his late wife and child.

This tragic incident has sparked outrage and calls for accountability in Nigeria’s medical community.

The bereaved family deserves justice, and measures must be taken to prevent such avoidable tragedies in the future.
