A group of Nobel Peace Prize winners have called for the arrest and prosecution of Russian President Vladimir Putin for his alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
The laureates, including human rights activists and organizations, have signed an open letter urging the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take action against Putin and other Russian officials responsible for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The letter, signed by seven Nobel Peace Prize winners, including Maria Ressa, Dmitry Muratov, and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), states that Putin’s actions have caused “immeasurable suffering” and “flagrant violations of international humanitarian law”.
The signatories urge the ICC to:
– Investigate Putin and other Russian officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity
– Issue arrest warrants for those responsible
– Hold perpetrators accountable for their actions
This call comes as the international community continues to condemn Russia’s actions in Ukraine, and as the ICC investigates alleged war crimes committed in the conflict.
