A shocking incident has occurred at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where relatives of patients attacked a doctor,
Dr. Alexander Onochie, and destroyed his vehicle.
This violent outburst marks the second incident within three days, following a protest by patients against alleged poor treatment by the hospital management.
According to reports, Dr. Onochie, a consultant psychiatrist, was attacked for explaining the hospital’s triage system to patients’ relatives, which prioritizes cases based on severity.
The relatives, dissatisfied with the explanation, became aggressive and violent, forcing Dr. Onochie to seek refuge in his vehicle.
The attackers then proceeded to damage his car, including breaking the side mirror.
Dr. Onochie recounted the terrifying experience, stating that he had to lock himself in his vehicle to avoid being lynched.
He praised the timely intervention of police operatives from the Lafenwa Divisional Headquarters, who rescued him from the volatile situation.
