In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled a major drug cartel responsible for the production and distribution of methamphetamine, a deadly psychoactive substance commonly known as mkpuru mmiri.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, the dismantling of the syndicate followed the arrest of its leader, 42-year-old Joachin Chikaodi Mbonu, and his associate in his mansion located in Umuomi village, Uzogba-Ezenomi autonomous community, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
During the raid, operatives recovered several items, including:
- A Pump Action Gun with Cartridges
- 419.99 Grams of Methamphetamine
- 750 Grams of Iodine and 500 Grams of Sodium Bicarbonate
- Two Electronic Weighing Scales
- An Underground Network of Cladestine Laboratories
The takedown of the drug cartel is a significant achievement in the fight against drug trafficking and a major breakthrough for the NDLEA.
