Ginger Onwusibe, the Labour Party lawmaker representing Isialangwa North and South constituency in Abia State at the National Assembly, has distributed cassava stems, yams, and other seedlings to his constituents.
This initiative was announced on his verified Facebook page as part of the celebrations marking his first anniversary in office.
Onwusibe stated that the distribution was aimed at encouraging his constituents to return to farming.
He shared, “Today, at the Amassa Ntigha Mini Stadium, which I built, we trained over 600 constituents from the Umuoha, Ngwa Ukwu, and Ntigha wards of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government on modern agricultural practices. We provided them with improved seedlings such as palm, tomatoes, pepper, okra, cucumber, maize, and yam, as well as cassava stems and fertilizer.”
He explained that these improved seedlings and stems were sourced from outside the constituency, with the goal of encouraging local farming and domesticating these high-quality agricultural resources within the area. “By my assessment, it was successful, and the participants are happy. Our target is to train 2,000 participants in Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Governments,” Onwusibe added.
